Welcome to the Machon Ot Visitors Center

The Torah has always stood at the very center of Jewish life in every Jewish community throughout the world. While we learn a lot from what is written in the Torah, each Torah itself is a source of invaluable information about the Jewish community in which it was written.

Machon Ot has more than 30 years of experience in rescuing, restoring and preserving Torah scrolls from around the world and we are pleased to welcome you to our Visitors Center.

As part of your visit you will see our sofrim (scribes) at work, painstakingly checking each and every one of the Torah’s 304,805 letters to be certain that every letter is as it should be and tending to those which require repair.

You will learn of the stories of special Torahs which tell the story of the Jewish people throughout the ages. You will see our exhibit of ancient Torahs and mantles, different types of parchment and ink and different styles of calligraphy including unique and unusual letters.
